Add a Note to the Component

You can add a note to any component (Species, Protein, Gene*, RNAs*, asRNAs*, Compartment, , and Reaction). *=new to Ver3.0
The notes should be written in XHTML format. For details on XHTML tags and attributes, please check the XHTML 1.0 specification at http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/.

*New to Ver. 2.2: You can now enter PubMed ID in the notes, and directly link to the relevant reference.

To add a note to the component:

  1. Select the target component (any Species, Reaction, Compartment, Protein, Gene, RNA, asRNA).
  2. The notes of the target component is displayed in the Notes pane in the right-bottom corner of the window.
  3. Click Edit Notes button.
  4. Species Notes dialog will pop-up.
  5. Note: If the target component is a protein, you can also select Edit Protein Notes.

  6. Type the text you want to add as the notes to the component.
  7. Click OK to close the dialog.

  8. Note: The notes you have added will not be displayed in the draw area.

To check/view the notes of the component:

  1. In the Draw area, select a component.
  2. Or, select a component in the List area.
  3. Find the notes for the component in the Notes area.

Copy and Notes:

The notes attached to the components are copied when you copy the target components. However, the notes attached to the reactions will not be copied along.
As the Reaction has no alias structure, whenever you paste the reaction, it will be a new logical entity. So the notes attached to the reaction will not be carried to the copied reaction.
